Rough Rider is presented as a cream-coloured, jointed Teddy bear made of the finest alpaca, wearing a sand-coloured cotton uniform with a leather belt and brown hat, whose brim is fixed with the gold-plated Steiff “Button in Ear”. His outfit is reminiscent of the first US volunteer cavalry regiment, the Rough Riders, who were led by Roosevelt himself in the Spanish-American War. His beautiful horse is crafted of exquisite mohair and has realistic, hand-painted detail. The hooves, hand-made saddle and bridle are genuine dark brown leather, decorated with studs and miniatures. The horse and rider are mounted on a wooden pedestal, whose glazed surface is adorned with a small brass plate that bears the inscription “Rough Rider”. Horse and rider are part of a Limited Edition commemorating the year of Theodore Roosevelt’s birth.
