Traveller has been brought to life with much love and attention to detail, and is an achievement in craftsmanship that harkens back to the early 1900s when Steiff became world-renowned for superior quality and realism in animal design. Traveller is a dapple grey, with hand-applied airbrushed dappling. The unique, variegated blend of real hair creates a life-like mane and tail with an overall dark grey appearance. His oval-shaped leather hooves are also air-brushed in a grey color. Hand-airbrushed shaping around his dark glass eyes gives Traveller an alert, life-like appearance. He is made of a custom blend of white mohair and alpaca, chosen so that its length would effectively complement Traveller’s size. He is stuffed with excelsior (wood shavings). His saddle and bridle are made of real leather with orange felt accents. Gold-plated buttons adorn his riding gear, many emblazoned with the Steiff logo. His circus-style tack was prominent on many of the Steiff horses of the early 1900s. His saddle and bridle also feature tiny working buckles of an antique brass colour. He is a sturdy animal, with his welded metal frame extending upward into his legs for support. The wheels are cast metal.
