Description
This beautiful pink teddy is from the 1920's and is in excellent condition. Her mohair is soft and lush and she has almost 100% coverage, very minor thinning on her bum. The pinkness is a bit lighter overall but still very gorgeous. There is darker pink in hidden places which indicates how very blushing she might once have been. She is 20" tall. Her big eyes are brown with black pupils. She is completely original. I believe her to be an early Hermann. Pink and other color teddies were made by Hermann in the 1920's. The earlier Hermann bears had no ID so comparison is the modus operandi. In accordance with other Hermann teddies, this one has a lovely wide, round head with her ears big half circles that are set midway over her face seams. She has the upturned paws and horizontal nose stitching on a shaven snout. Her mouth is an upside down Y, all wonderfully intact. She also has a small hump on her back. She is wood wool stuffed. On one foot pad the material has worn, so there are a few small bare spots where the wood wool is exposed. She has five claws on each paw instead of the more familiar 3. This is a fabulous teddy, clean, sweet-smelling, and very, very feminine. I always do my best to describe as accurately as I can and to sell in good faith. I have referred to "Teddy Bears A Complete Guide to History, Collecting and Care" by Sue Pearson and Dottie Ayers (pgs. 42-43). Please ask all questions prior to auction close as I do not offer returns on antique bears. Please contact me within 48 hours following auction end. Payment to be received within 7 days or I reserve the right to re-list. Thank you for viewing my auction and good luck if you decide to bid. (Please note: I will mail as promptly as I can, but living on a small island where I am subject to ferry pick-ups and schedules, and also the difference between local and international shipping may cause some delays.)
